Gulf Coast firm welcomes one of America’s most recognized maritime law practitioners

NEW ORLEANS, LA (June 11, 2018) — Today, Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow & Abramson, LLC (LKSA), a Gulf Coast regional law firm which litigates in the areas of maritime, aviation, personal injury/wrongful death, medical malpractice, and products liability in both state and federal courts, announced the addition of Conrad S.P. “Duke” Williams, III as Of Counsel.

At LKSA, Williams will focus on litigation, maritime, aviation, wrongful death and environmental cases. In addition, he represents individuals, land owners and small business owners and fisherman in commercial disputes, pollution and toxic tort matters and oil and gas matters.

“I am proud to take the next step in my career with the respected Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow & Abramson, LLC firm, which offers the highest quality, zealous legal representation,” Williams stated. “There is no other team I would rather become a part of as LKSA emphasizes attaining the best result for the client, while maintaining a high degree of ethics and professionalism.”

Williams’s countless legal successes include serving on the Plaintiff Steering Committee in the BP Deepwater Horizon litigation, practicing as a member of the trial team, as well as the attorney charged with overseeing the litigation surrounding the drilling moratorium imposed by the federal government.

“We are pleased to have added one of the country’s best maritime law practitioners as recognized by both his peers and the judiciary to a firm already recognized for its expertise and high level of accomplishment in this area,” said Managing Partner Paul Sterbcow of Williams. “Mr. Williams’s arrival at LKSA further establishes us as a leading plaintiff litigation firm on the Gulf Coast.”

Amongst his many professional credentials, Williams is as an Executive Committee Member and past President of the Louisiana Association for Justice, International Academy of Trial Lawyers Fellow, member of the Navy League New Orleans Chapter, sits on the Advisory Board of the Loyola Maritime Law Journal and Loyola Law School Board of Visitors, was elected the New Orleans Bar Association’s 2015 Maritime Lawyer of the year and to the Louisiana Super Lawyers (2008–2015), as well as being AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®.

Williams earned his J.D. in 1984 from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, as well as a B.A. in history in 1974. At Loyola Law, he was a member of Delta Theta Phi, as well as a Chairman of the Moot Court Board.

Prior to Loyola Law, Williams attended Naval Aviation Schools Command at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL. Upon completion of Aviation Officer Candidate School he was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy, completed flight training and was assigned to Patrol Squadron Four at Barbers Point Naval Air Station where he completed a three year operational tour deployed to the Pacific, Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean operating theaters. During his squadron tour he was awarded the battle ‘E’ Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Medal.

After graduation, Williams started his career handling maritime casualty and commercial litigation matters worldwide. In 1990, he began representing injured blue water and brown water maritime workers (vessel crew, drilling rig crew, divers, surveyors) and their families, as well as those injured in aviation casualties on land and at sea.

During his career he has handled many hundreds of cases in federal and state courts throughout the Gulf South. These cases include catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death and environmental disasters. Although the majority of his clients are located in the Gulf South, he has represented injured maritime workers from all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Papua New Guinea and South Africa.

Williams is admitted to practice before all courts, federal and state, in the State of Louisiana, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. 5th and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.
